LLMs and their ilk are just the "wisdom of the crowd" or a betting market turned into an algorithm.

Their biggest threat isn't that they'll steal jobs, it's that they consistently do an average job. And since they always do about average, the floor has risen to this new average. And everyone who wasn't always above average (which is more than half of all people) are now second fiddle to some sand. It sucks, and it's frustating that we as a society still haven't really figured out how to prevent this oncoming wave of suffering from loss of purpose and identity.
