My goal is an end to worldwide shipping of items, and Renaissance of local manufacturing. The ability to buy or create a digital design, and walk down to your local manufactorium to pick it up next day.

Of course just because a design is "digital" doesn't mean that you just click start and out pops your item. Shit happens, finishing steps need to be done, feedstock runs out midpart. Shit happens.
The idea that you can order something made halfway across the planet, and have it at your doorstop the next day, for less than picking up and identical item made next door is, just, utterly ridiculous.
We need a large globally spanning network to ferry around digital designs and have them made nearby. It's the only way to ensure a high standard of living at a sustainable rate.
